Seven brave souls decided that the forecasted rain was going to be delayed and enjoyed the planned OCC Recreational Group from Waihi Beach, over the headlands to Orokawa Bay.

We met first for coffee and muffins (thanks Jeanette) and then set off on the 3km stroll to the bay ending at the largest of the streams that cross the beach. There was discussion about proceeding further on to the William Wright Falls as the track is now re-opened after being closed for quite a period, but we talked to another couple returning from the track and they advised that is was still fairly rough going - so we took the easy option and sat on the beach.
With the storm clouds brewing to the north we finally decided it was time to retrace our steps and headed back to Waihi Beach for a well-earned coffee stop.
Next outing will be 2nd Tuesday in June - check for details on the Events page closer to the time.
